Another best place to buy KOSE products is the Duty Free shop. I got these at Narita Airport, about 31%-38% cheaper in Malaysia.
1. Massage Mask (¥3,500)
2. Clear Lotion (¥1,700)
3. White Powder Wash (¥2,100)
If you ever have spare time, try to persuade your tour guide to bring you to ¥100 shop. Although most of the items are made in China, the quality is definitely better. Worth buying...just see what we bought...each item is sell at ¥105 (inclusive of 5% tax) which is about RM3 only
1. Home sandal. Soft and washable.
2. LCD monitor and keyboard dust cover.
Food Section
When you go overseas, you can't resist hoarding loads of goodies back especially snacks and local produce. We bought these from the omiyage shop at Tanukikoji shopping arcade, Sapporo.
1. Tokibi Corn Chocolate http://www.hori-group.jp/hori/shop/list/1_6/
Photo extracted from official site.
This is what we bought on the first day from the drugstores at Tanukikoji shopping arcade. This is only the first day! We have done our homework so we got some ideas what to buy. Personally, I felt you really need to do the homework unless you could read Japanese. Even though you could read, you might not have the time to study each item. So basically I just grabbed what looks familiar into my basket especially those recommended in the Taiwanese popular 女人我最大 TV show.
Our flight back is 1330 and we need to reach the airport 2 and half hour before for check in. The hotel is not far from the airport. So free and leisure in the morning until transfer to Narita airport. No group check-in, so everyone had to queue up. I think most of our tour members have exceeded the weight limit. Our luggage only weight 38kg Not bad.
After immigration checkpoint, you could shop at the duty free shop and lots of omiyage shops too. If you want to buy ROYCE chocolate, you need to take the train first. In the terminal, they still have mini stalls selling omiyage but not many.

By Happy452 - Thursday, August 14, 2008
Today we will visit the famous Hakodate Morning Market We will be having our lunch and dinner early today as we need to catch a flight back to Narita at 1855 hours.
M-size is ok with us as we use it for porridge and soup only.
A must buy in Hokkaido is the dry scallop. It's better quality and cheaper as they have pretty of supply here. According to Low-san that Japanese also sell dry China scallop in the market to cater for specific group of consumers.
Hokkaido~DAY5 Natural Formation of Noboribetsu 登别市
By Happy452 - Tuesday, August 12, 2008
Today breakfast is a bit special. Breakfast in set at the Yumoto Noboribetsu Hotel where we had our dinner last night. Of course no yukata this morning but still need to sit on the tatami floor.
Hell Valley (JIGOKUDANI) 地獄谷 is our first sightseeing spot today. Very near to the hot spring town. Cloud of steams and volcanic gas coming out from the surface and filled with strong smell of sulphur. This place was the remnant of an active volcano erupted 10,000 years ago. We followed the wooden path to the end to witness the bubbling hot water every 5 minutes. Those with breathing problem better stay off the area. They have a gifts shop at the entrance. So you could wait there if you don’t want to go in.
Today is to visit the lavender farm, our main title of this trip. From the hotel it took about 1 and half hour to reach Furano 富良野~~Farm Tomita. Coincidently the Japanese are having some kind of celebration event and the traffic is real slow. Finally most of the members gave up sitting inside the bus and took a stroll to the Farm instead. Just a short distance of about 10-15 minutes walk to reach the entrance but the place is packed with tourists already.
Morning call at 0630 which is 0530 Malaysia time! …Do we have to wake up so early, aren’t we on holiday….how come much early than working day! Sob…sob..we have our buffet breakfast at the hotel. Too early for my stomach to have breakfast la. In Japan, you take a tray and put empty plate(s) or bowl(s) with cutleries first, then proceed to the food section. Their normal breakfast is porridge or rice. Of course they have western food to cater for the tourists too. Not many choices though.
Arrival hall of Narita Airport
Hurray, we finally reached Narita airport 成田国际机场 on time. There was a minor hiccup at the immigration check point as our pretty tour leader led us to the wrong queue which was for Japanese and Japan PR only. No wonder not even a single foreigner at the queue except us. Well, she apologized later and apparently this is her first time at Narita airport
Finally the day had arrived. Well, I’m still working in the morning and only take the afternoon off. The flight is 2330 hours and the assemble time is 2130 hours at KLIA. We reached KLIA about 45 minutes earlier from the assemble time and yet the tour leader is already there… waiting. wah la, we thought we are the first…..how early did she arrive there?
The tour leader is a pretty young lady with not much tour experience to Hokkaido. This is her 3rd time to Hokkaido.
July is a peak season in Hokkaido and hard to get seat for domestic flight. According to our tour guide, they couldn’t secure seats to Hakodate and have to reschedule the itinerary. We will touch down in Chitose instead. This means our travel plan will be from west to east against the original plan from east to west.
While counting down, the tour leader called and sending out the final confirmation list and some important information.
Yahoo weather forecast had reported raining for the whole time we will be in Hokkaido. What! Can I change to another date… So don’t forget the umbrella.
(If you forget to bring, don't worry. The Japan tour bus is good, they always have spare umbrellas in the bus for the tourists)
You wouldn’t believe it my sis like their umbrella and brought it back all the way to Malaysia!
You won't want to miss the shopping during vacation. Please bring sufficient Yen as not all places accept credit cards in Hokkaido.
Bring 3G phone only.
The temperature is around 22℃ to 28℃. Lower temperature during night time. Light jacket is advisable as certain tour spot is cold as they are located on higher ground.
Lastly, don’t forget the PASSPORT.
Oh almost forgot to mention we have 34 pax in our group. The biggest tour group I ever participated before
If you are going to Japan, Hokkaido 北海道 is one of the popular place to go. Hokkaido is an island located north end of Japan. I and my sister finally decided to go to Japan this mid July 2008 and Hokkaido is our first place to set our foot in Japan. It will be summer in Hokkaido which is her popular floral season especially height of the lavender blooming period during end of July.
Without wasting too much time on choosing which traveling agencies, we had picked AppleHoliday which suppose to be good in organising Japan tour. The all-in tour fare came up to about RM7k each person for 8D6N. Really expensive. The tour will be flying with MAS and transit to domestic flight in Narita to Hokkaido. There is no direct flight to Hokkaido from Malaysia. If you choose to take JAL airline, it will costs you extra RM200-RM300 each person and yet you still need to have transit flight.
Malaysia Hormony offered a lower price but the tour will stop and stay a night at Shanghai before departing to Hokkaido. If I could recall correctly, the all-in price around RM6k per pax.
Malaysia Harmony
